What were they thinking?

" Animal activists argue that while the farm animals' deaths are unfortunate, it proves minks raised in captivity can survive in the wild.

"The amount of suffering that has been prevented by releasing them from cramped cages and freeing them from an extremely cruel death more than justifies a temporary disruption to the ecosystem," said veterinarian Andrew Knight, director of research at the Seattle-based Northwest Animal Rights Network. "

I'm sure that the owners/care takers of the animals that were attacked and killed by these minks would say otherwise. How do the idiots that freed these animals justify this? This isn't a temporary disruption of the eco-system, how dare they be so insensitive to the poor people who had to see their animals suffer because these poor *starving* minks were suffering? And this proves they can survive in the wild how? This was akin to letting them loose in a grocery store, they aren't being forced to live in the wild, they've been exposed to a free buffet. Now that they locals have wised up and begun to take preventive measures, how long will they survive? Clearly, they're starving. And this is a less painful way for them to survive? How?
