When I was a girl, my family always put the tree up on Christmas eve. It was always a live tree. This year, we were running so late on everything and due to the pain I was in and opting to foster the puppies last weekend, we didn't get the tree until December 23. We go to the same lot every year at a local church. The trees are always gorgeous. The lot is right along a busy road where the traffic backs up and sits in front of the lot. We were the only ones there. The sun was beginning to set and the man was getting ready to close up shop, removing the strings of overhead lights and taking down the stands that had held so many trees. He smiled and told me all the trees were $15.00 now. I said we'd gotten a late start this year. He remarked that many others had too. We walked through, looking at the trees that remained. I was surprised that there were quite a few trees still left. One seemed to scream "PICK ME!" louder than the others. So we did.
