From the site:
"FireflyMovie.com is a fan run site dedicated to assuring that Joss Whedon?s television masterpiece Firefly will someday grace the silver screen, and perhaps eventually make it's way back to the small screen either via the airwaves or DVD."
AND
FIREFLY FOR THE TROOPS
The Firefly community is gathering donations so that we can donate copies of Firefly to the U.S. troops in Iraq. From the Official firefly forum:
This effort accomplishes many goals that we can all agree are worthwhile:
1. It will provide entertainment for our soldiers.
2. It will increase sales of the Firefly DVD's.
3. It will increase the fan base, once the recipients see said DVD's!
4. It will give us an opportunity to generate more press for Firefly.
The initial campaign goal is to raise enough funds to purchase 120 copies of the DVD's for dispersal to all USO centers worldwide. Once enough money is raised to accomplish this we can focus on other groups, such as Army personnel stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, aboard Navy ships, etc.
Donations can be made in two ways, through PayPal or by mail to Kristen [of the Firefly: Immediate Assistance campaign.]
To make your donation using PayPal, you can do one of two things:
Go to Paypal and do the contribution manually by hitting "Send Money" and then typing in:
firefly@sgcwebdesign.com.
Or, even easier, you can click on this:
donate
[Paypal does charge a transaction fee. It is 2.9%+ $0.30 USD for US Dollars, 3.4%+ $0.55 CAD for Canadian Dollars, 3.4%+ ¬0.35 EUR for Euros and 3.4%+ £0.20 GBP for British Pounds Sterling.]
To make a donation the old fashioned way, you can mail your check or money order directly to:
Kristen Reidel
SGC Web Design
6101 W. Centinela Avenue, Suite 375
Culver City, CA 90230
Checks should be made payable to Kristen Reidel. Please note that if you are sending money from outside the US, you will need to purchase a money order in US DOLLARS or we will be unable to use your contribution due the high fees associated with cashing checks or money orders issued in foreign currency.
This donation drive will be open until Friday, January 30th, 2004. This gives you plenty of time to find a few extra dollars to help Serenity & her crew.
Let the giving begin!
