Cold, "24", musings

At about 8:30 last night, after nodding my way through the first half hour of "24", I developed a cold. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I'm frellin' miserable today. Can't sleep, which explains why I'm up now at this ungodly hour. Yes, for people who work midnights, 9:30AM is an ungodly hour.

"24" - damn that sucked. That half up haldf down camera thing is just annoying, not creative.

The premise sucked - "Oh Jack, I love you....but...please Jack....don't say anything.....you don't have to say anything." As "Jack" stands there looking constipated. "Oh honey (Jack now) we really need to tell your father all about us, I'd rather he heard it me." What are these people 12? This is a grown man and a grown woman. We then got into the stereotypical good child/embarrassing child scenario, seems the gov't guy has a son who apparently has the balls to act like an adult and not agree with his father and is (gasp!) a protester. Then we have the foreign family, the proper father, yet he refers to his wife when speaking to his son as "her". Anyone brought up in a strict household knows you never, never refer to your parents as "him" or "her" they are always regarded and addressed as "your mother" or "your father". Picky, not really, it was just one one example to me of how lame this set up was, so far. "24" seems to have it's up s and downs. Last night first half hour wasn't good enough to pull me in and it's a good think it doesn't remain on Sunday nights, for me, it wouldn't pull me away from Desperate Housewives or Boston Legal. I don't know what time it's on tonight, but I'd prefer to watch Vegas.

There were two bright spots last night, Roger Cross is a ery talented actor and I hope they don't waste his talents. It was nice to see "Chloe" back.

And why was Jack going to a professional meeting with scruff? Razor break? Or does the actor not feel like shaving every morning? Just didn't look very professional. Checking the Fox forum it seems like there's quite a few people who were disappointed. Maybe if you're a fan of soap operas it's your fare and I don't mean that in a degrading fashion, it's just that the overdramatized scenes and close ups of facila reactions just isn't may thing.

Hate the new love interest, definitely. Wasn't just her whiny speech, either. What clinched it for me was when she put on a white shirt over a black bra. That's just trashy. I have my standards. :)

Otherwise, I am sort of looking forward to this season (more than season three which I disliked immensely). No Kim, no Soul Patch, no Michelle. Me likey.

Although, I wonder what sort of political commentary the creators are trying to make when they have one character accuse another of having "6th grade Michael Moore logic" and then have Jack go in and torture yet another evil terrorist before it's even clear to him that the guy has done anything. Yes, conveniently enough for the purposes of the show the prisoners are *always* evil terrorists but one of these days Jack is going to end up shooting some poor pizza delivery guy who has no terrorist connections!

I initially liked Kim Raver when she was on Third watch, but then she turned into a walking skeleton and I find it painful to watch her. I want to urge her to eat. I know ridiculous, but I guess her acting isn't good enough for me to get past that and her teeth. Wow, you're right, she did put a white shirt over a black bra! Even though the black bra was probably for decency reasons for the actress, you're right, they should have had her put a dark colored shirt on then.

LOL on the pizza guy - you're right! It's funny because Kiefer Sutherland said that no one makes more fun of the show than the people who work on it, you'd think they'd fix some of these little lame ass problems when they see them.

Did you notice who wrote last night's episode? We've found that we like Howard Gordon's the best.
