And so it begins......
TV Show Raises Eyebrows in Namesake Town"
The question around here these days: What the devil was Fox thinking, bringing Satan's offspring ashore in such an idyllic place? Sure, the network's new series "Point Pleasant" is just fiction. But still."It's evil," said Barbara Stancel, a 60-year-old lifelong resident. "I'm not happy about it. Point Pleasant's known as a family town, and this won't do anything for Point Pleasant."
The local paper adds -
Devil and the deep blue sea: Spooky series 'Point Pleasant' ready to premiere
For people in the real Point Pleasant, news about "Point Pleasant," the fictional television show named for their town, is being met with a range of emotions -- from bemusement to anger. But area residents do seem to agree on one thing: They're curious enough about the show to check it out when it premieres next week.
I'm going to watch if only for the simple reason that Richard Burgi is a great guy and he was a wonderful auctioneer at this past October's Lights, Camera, Auction 7
This is the same state that spawned the magazine Weird NJ that has since published a book, Weird NJ and recently branched out to a new book, Weird US. Mind you the books are about the same size, which means NJ's weirdness was enough to equal that of the US. In theory anyway :)
Here's some pictures of him auctioning off the shirt that was donated by the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department. And the cap he's wearing, I bought for him, bought it right there in Point Pleasant, brought him two, one for him and one he auctioned off.

So you actually live in Point Pleasant? How cool is that!

And I do have extensive history with the place - I went to grammar school in the Beach, my son was born in the Boro, I went back to live in Point after my divorce and my son went to kindergarten in the Boro. It's really a great place, both the Beach and the Boro. Too bad they didn't film it "down the shore".
