I just saw a car with American flags coming out of the windows, you know, those bracket things that you attach to the window sash, the ones that everyone seemed to have after 9/11 and now no one seems to have now. I'm afraid that we've become comfortable with terrorism. No matter what side of the war issue you're on, patriotism still seemed strong, you just had different takes on what was patriotic. I hardly ever see a flag on a car or on a house anymore. It's scary, this isn't something we should become comfortable with or accept. I wonder sometimes if we weren't lulled into this war, into going after Saddam for the expressed reason of depleting our forces and dividing the country, dividing our strength so that we would be weak when the real attacks come.
Posted by Mickey at April 27, 2005 5:19 PMI have both an American and Israeli flag onmy truck. Had em on my house, but the weight of the flags loosened the screws in the brackets. I have to re-engineer them, but I've been lazy!
Posted by: Mark on April 27, 2005 11:24 PMI think people replaced them with the "ribbon" style magnets after the actual flags got so nasty so quick. At least that's what I'm seeing a lot of here. Very often they have "Support Our Troops" on them. Of course, I saw even more in Utah.
Posted by: Ith on May 2, 2005 2:23 PMGood thought! They're *everywhere* here. Someone actually stole my animal rescue ones off the back of the truck, it the Petco parking lot no less! A friend in NC said they aren't very big there at all. It's not uncommon to see cars here with as many as 4 ribbons on them for various causes. It's becoming rare to see a car without some type of ribbon on it. I don't remember seeing any in CA last October.
Posted by: Mickey on May 2, 2005 5:07 PMThey (flags and ribbons) are rarer than just post-9/11, but I see them all the time here in CA.
