What I've Been Doing....

Ith asked if I was off galivanting again - well....if that's what you want to call it! (grin)

I do apologize for not having the Carnival up, this last trip to Maine was a last minute decision. That in mind, I'd like to change the mail address for submitting Carnival entries so that I can get some help with the Carnival in the event that I'll be off galivanting (*G*) again. This way Jeff who's taken over the Carnival duries in the past and has offered to help, can do just that.

The new address for the carnival is Carnivalofthedogs at Gmail dot com
Here's the link - Carnival of the Dogs

So, what have I been doing - here are some pictures -

This is a 40 ft Novi, a wooden boat, this is how she looked when we went to see her.

The poor girl needed some work -

And she needed to be fiberglassed -

And she needed to be built up a bit more -

For the last six weeks work on her has been non-stop and it has been done primarily by one very hard working man and 2 women.
The day finally came for the paint to be applied - actually, it was night
by this time -

And the artistic work began!

She's still being painted and outfitted, but when I left last Wednesday she was looking beautiful!

So, that's what I've been doing! Working hard, having lots of fun doing it and making new friends.

No, Mark - that's not me, that's my boyfriend's beautiful daughter - here we are on the day we went to get the boat -

So, is that you in the last shot?

What a great, typically Maine-type thing to do - Make a wooden boat seaworthy again. Can I help with the next one?

Absolutely you can help! But,,,,I'm hoping this one will be lasting a loooong time! Man, that was a lot of work!!

Very cool! The BF is a lucky dude!

Have fun on that seadog (and I mean seadog in the most endearing way). She has some very cool lines.

What was she originally built for? My guess would be lobstering from the shallow gunwales.

I don't let the BF forget how lucky he is either! *G*

She was a lobster boat out of the Lowell (MA) area. He actually built the gunwales up. Because of how she was sitting, or stored, she had an upside down smile and now her stern is happily back up in the air *G* I'll post a picture of how much she was built up. He really did an amazing job, I couldn't even believe how hard he worked. He always was a hard worker, but this was an amazing task.

"She was a lobster boat out of the Lowell (MA) area"

Score!!! Not bad for a virtual landlubber, eh?

I love wooden boats. I always wanted to apply my skills to one. Very different when you have planks canted in two directions at the same time. Some of our stair work is vaguely reminiscent of boatwork in that it is all curves and takes skill and a good eye.

LOL! Good job! I like wooden boats too, but unfortunately, with some of the terrain, the glass over it was very, very needed. I really liked doing the glass work too!
