You will, I'm sure, be relieved to know the Taxi and Limousine Commission in NYC has dropped charges against 86 year old 60 Minutes' correspondent Mike Wallace, for disorderly conduct. Wallace also received a phone call from Matthew Daus, chairman of TLC, to formally apologize for the skirmish. You remember Wallace reported "lunged" at the two TLC officers, an allegation Wallace disputed siting his age an inability to even "lunge into bed". As it turns out, the office that handcuffed Wallace was not authorized to even carry handcuffs, much less use them, and both officers have been assigned to desk duty, as they undergo a second round of conflict resolution training. Case closed.
TBS is readying a new reality series called He's a Lady (Evolution Tape & Film) where eleven very guy guys, all undergoing a decidedly female makeover and finding out what it's like to live the life of a woman for a period of time. In a typical reality show ambush style, none of the 11 men know what they're in for - in fact they all believed they would be competing in various strength and endurance competitions for a show called All American Male. At the end of the day, one of the 11 will win a cash prize. The show is set to premiere on October 12, airing on Tuesday nights.

The weather ~
The weather can't seem to make up it's mind these days. There was a kickass T-storm last night around 3am that I missed because I was at work in the dungeon. I love night time Thunder storms. Lightning during the day is just so boring.
Politics
I could care less that our Governor is gay.
MMMMM....Entenmann's......
Entenmann's came out with this very tasty snack bar, 180 calories. Now if I can just eat only one at a time and stay away from the rest of the Entenmann's loot....

Amish in the City, Books, Stargate Atlantis
I'm really enjoying watching Amish in the City however, I'm disappointed, although not surprised that the show pulled a bit of a fast one. It would seem that these are not Old Order Amish, maybe with the exception of Mose. And it seems that Miriam and Ruth have been out of their homes for a bit, especially Miriam, It's surprising too that they haven't traveled and that Miriam never saw a parking meter before and that Mose didn't know what white chocolate was. The Amish do travel after all, they aren't restricted to their homes. I've always had a fascination with their religion and lifestyle. What surprises me the most though is the fact that they don't care to share their beliefs with others, that just seems so far from Christ's teachings of spreading the Good Word.
I picked up this book Crossing Over - One Woman's Escape from Amish Life, by Irene Ruth Garrett. It could be argued that the book is simplistic in it's narrative, but I'm enjoying it.
More TV musings....
I'm enjoying Stargate Atlantis too. Of course it helps that Joe Flanigan is easy on the eyes.

This news is very disturbing and sad - from the ASPCA Newsletter
ASPCA Joins International Animal Welfare Community in Condemning Mass Killing of Stray Dogs In Greece Tuesday August 3, 2004FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(New York, NY) August 2, 2004 -- The ASPCA is joining the international animal welfare community in condemning the deliberate and inhumane killing of thousands of homeless dogs in the city of Athens. It is believed that up to 80% of the estimated 30,000 to 50,000 stray dogs living in the streets of Athens have been poisoned in the past few weeks in an effort to eliminate the population prior to the beginning of the 2004 Olympic Games on August 13. It is reported that dogs are being fed food laced with rat poison, causing a slow and excruciating death over a period of several days. Videotape shot by the organization Welfare for Animals Global recently captured some of the more gruesome and disturbing methods being utilized on the city streets of Athens to kill dogs.
"The inhumane and archaic methods of population control reportedly being implemented in the city of Athens are simply not acceptable in the year 2004," said ASPCA President Edwin J. Sayres. "The ASPCA stands with the international humane community in expressing our disappointment with the Greek government for their lack of compassion and desire to eradicate thousands stray dogs from their city in advance of the Olympic Games."
The international Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) recently sent a representative to Athens and is helping to train Greek officials to deal with the epidemic stray problem humanely. For more information on how you can help the strays in Greece, please visit www.rspca.org.

Instead of getting the Carnival posted this past weerk, we were busy picking up these four little cuties. They arrived after a long drive Saturday from Rovky Mount, NC. The littlest one, who I've been calling Tiny for now, but we'll get a better name is 2.6 lbs. and yes, that's a bowl of food that she's sleeping in.

Ahhhhhhhh!
For the last month or so I've been trying to stay away from regular posting and leaving the Carnival as the main focus of the blog. Entries to the Carnival have been few and far between, this past week, after much much hoopla preceding it, there wasn't a single entry. I've decided to just go back to being me. Yes, I'll still post the Carnival, but I'm going back to having my own blog too.
I hope all who visit the Carnival will enjoy it.
Thanks :)
Well we've had an exciting week here at the Carnival - we received an Instalanche, thanks to Glenn and to Jay for putting the word out for us!
But.....even with all that excitement and all the people who stopped by, I still don't have a single entry for this week. So please. if you have a dog or a dog story or you saw a cute dog on the web, send me a link. The more people who stop by here, the more attention that is brought to fostering and rescuing dogs and cats and other animals.
Thanks :)
