****Added - NY Shelters lower their adoption fees!

FEBRUARY 19TH, 2005

The city is looking to make it even more affordable for animal-lovers to adopt a pet by slashing adoption fees for dogs and cats in search of a good home through the end of the month.

Dogs, including purebreds, will go for just over $50, while $25 will buy you a kitten or two adult cats.

Carnival of the Dogs

Angel's raincoat

We're off to the Super Pet Expo today. We're taking two dogs with us, DJ, one of ours and Kelly

My son got me business card paper last night to print out on the nifty Epson printer, photocopier, scanner, great picture printer thingie that he got me for Christmas :) Thank you!!

Johnny now called Rudy went to his new home on Sunday and that's the last of the "clan". There are now two Rud(ies/y) in that family Johnny now Rudy and Joy now Rudie

And we were able to get Johnny in on the Pedigree Adoption Drive

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and please keep the entries coming, Jeff gave me a new idea and I'll be working on that and anyone else who has promotional ideas, please pass them along. The Carnival helps to promote the cause of adopting and apsying and neutering, so it's very important to me and besides, I *love* looking at pictures of everyone's cute pups!

Added:

The puppy was integral to a press conference earlier this week, when a $15.5 million grant from Maddie's Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, was announced, to help the city's shelters increase adoptions and hopefully become a no-kill city. [If you're considering getting a pet, check out Big Apple Pets for Adoption.]

Holster that!

A holster for your beer or cocktail and you have to have both hands free for? Can't be dancing with a cocktail, it would spill, a beer I guess....

Law and Order and Chris Noth

Chris Noth will return to Law & Order, this time appearing as a regular character starting next season with a new partner on L&O: Criminal Intent. Noth will return as Detective Mike Logan, joining the major case squad, and splitting the case load with the current (and returning) Detective Robert Goren as played by Vincent D'Onofrio (who continues to work with his long time partner). Basically, no one is getting displaced here, they're just adding a new pair of detectives to the squad.

Carnival of the Dogs

There *HAS* to be more dog lovers and owners out there!! Where are you?

One entry for the Carnival, but I can say it's a quality entry, so who cares about quantity. AND good news, Loki is doing better, please stop by and give him a virtual pat and a Scooby snack and say hi to his folks too.

And since we don't have a lot of entries, we'll have fun with pictures.

Hello?

This definitely falls into the "What will they think of next?!" category.

Cellphones for dogs

A mobile phone has been invented for dogs, reports Britain's Daily Mirror. The bone-shaped device, called Petscell, will fit on the animal's collar and is scheduled to go on sale next year.

The top-of-the-line versions will incorporate a camera to show what pets are up to.

If they are seen misbehaving, the owner can dial a number and shout commands such as "Bad dog." The pet can be heard if it replies.

Cameron Robb, the inventor, said the device could also be used to find lost dogs.

Pepe Le Pew

PepeLePew.gif

When the illustrious J. Geils Band released their 1980 hit song/album Love Stinks, I am guessing they weren't thinking about Looney Tunes' Pepe Le Pew. But that won't prevent Pepe Le Pew from “reeking” his never-ending efforts to find true love on Boomerang's Love Stinks Valentine's Day 24hr marathon of Pepe Le Pew, beginning Sunday, February 14, 6a. The network will air all 17 Pepe Le Pew animated shorts in chronological order. The shorts will repeat throughout the day. Before he was Pepe Le Pew, he was named Stinky in the 1945 animated short The Odor-Able Kitty. Two years later Pepe Le Pew took on the look we know today in the animated short Scent-Imental Over You (1947), which was seen in movie theatres, when Warner Bros. the Michael Maltese created and refined the French skunk into a Looney Tunes superstar. The forlorn yet persistent skunk starred in For Scent-Imental Reasons (1950) directed by legendary animator Chuck Jones, for which Jones won an Oscar for Director, Best Animated Cartoon.
