Open season on domesticated dogs
Last night Anna and Tanner came up to join their sister and brother (posted last week) Shalimar and D3. Because I was working overtime the people who were transporting were nice enough to deliver them to me at work. One of my coworkers, who had adopted a pup from me in the past, called one of her friends and had her come look at the puppies. She thought her friend might be interested in Tanner, but she almost instantly fell for Anna! BUT, on her way home with Anna, she stopped to see her mother (who lives across the street from her) and her mother fell in love with Anna and so did their rottweiler. So, Anna, now Coco, has a new
home.
People ask me all the time about where the puppies come from (no. no, not *that where do they come from!* hehehe) often, I don't know, but this time I do. These pups were out on a farm/large piece of property and the people called the rescue in NC and told then they had 9 pups, the rescue went right out, but because the pups were allowed to roam free (yup - roam free!) they were only able to find 6 of them.
Crichton and Chiana went to their new home this week *together!*

ASPCA special note - LILIES CAN BE LETHAL TO CATS
With Easter just around the corner, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) has partnered with the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) in a campaign to educate companion animal caretakers about the potential dangers of some of the most popular springtime plants. Many kinds of lilies—including Easter lily, tiger lily, rubrum lily, Japanese show lily and some species of the day lily—can cause kidney failure in cats if ingested.Last year alone, the center handled more than 275 cases of cats ingesting a lilium species. Signs of toxicosis, such as vomiting, lethargy and loss of appetite, may appear within a few hours, and will continue to worsen as damage to the kidneys progresses. Without prompt and proper treatment, kidney failure can develop in 36-72 hours. "Unfortunately, all parts of the lily are considered toxic to cats," says APCC veterinary toxicologist Dr. Sharon Gwaltney-Brant. "Consuming even small amounts can be life-threatening."
You can keep your feline family members safe and sound by simply removing all dangerous plants from their access. We also encourage you to consider beautiful but safer alternatives to lilies, such as Easter orchids, Easter daisies and violets. To help you identify potentially harmful members of the lily family, the APCC and CFA have developed online informational materials that include photos of dangerous species and a list of nontoxic plants. Please visit APCC or CFA to take a look.

Spent yesterday playing with dummies....Got my CPR re-cert yesterday :)
Asked the instructor about K-9 CPR and he said he'd actually seen dummies for that course and he was sure it was offered somewhere. Came home and searched the web and the Red Cross was offering a course right here in our town! I love the internet!! Signed my son and I up for a class this Friday night. Hopefully it will be an interesting class. If just for the sake of learning the canine CPR it would seem like it would be worth it for any pet owner.
Started EMD class today, wow.....I remembered it being boring, but who knew....I haven't had this class since 1996. The instructors are great, nice guys, know their subject, but it's just like going back to kindergarten after graduating from college. Naturally, my work partner and I have turned into the class trouble makers....good trouble though, nothing bad.....all in good fun :)
What kind of Cat dog parent are you?

First is the story of Smooth, I've been following this for a couple of weeks on the rescue lists. Smooth's human Mom was killed in an RV accident and Smooth ran away from the accident scene. Friends and volunteers searched day after day for this dog and finally, she's safe.
