Carnival of the Dogs

I just received a note from Linda - This week's Carnival is now dedicated to our friend, Loki who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 10-21-2005. He battled courageously. Linda, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

The Forgotten Victims

If you haven't seen this already, it's very, very sad. I forced myself to watch it because I know this is a reality that we can't turn away from and we can't wish away. We, as a nation need to be better prepared in the face of disasters, whether it be changes we make within our government or changes we make within our lives so that we have emergency plans in place.

Please, urge your politicians to support H.R. 3858, the Pet Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS)

MAKE THE CALL!

Take a minute and make a call -

To reach your representative, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at:
(202) 224-3121

Not sure what to say? It's simple!
Here's a sample phone script for when you call:

"Hello, my name is [your name] and I'm calling from [your city and state]. I'm calling to urge [your representative's name] to co-sponsor H.R. 3858, the Pet Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act.

By supporting this legislation, Representative [name] can prevent future disaster victims from having to choose between their personal safety and the welfare of their animals.

Thank you."

On a lighter note - Build a Bear Workshop stores are having a Husky weekend and Kelly would like you to show your support! When you buy a Bearemy's Kennel Pal Friend, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local animal shelters, rescues and rehabilitation resources.
