Interesting article and comments - my own comment on this - I'm often questioned about the fact that we have 6 dogs, there are worse things I could be spending my money on....but yes, I agree that people do need to realize that having a dog can be very expensive. I just dropped $248.00 at Petco and needless to say, I' a member of their Top Dog program because I'm a high roller in the dog food world! LOL!

Wedding dress

Here's the link for the picture of my wedding dress. The back part will be open with the corset more obvious. The picture has the added piece of material there, which is removal.

And here's the tuxedo -

Wedding Song - part two

So - it looks like it's going to be Taking You Home. It's appropriate for us. I love Maine, I loved living there. This was the man that I was going to marry almost 30 years ago, I can still distinctly remember saying to him then, "well, then let's go home now." But, he was in the middle of fishing and needed to go back out and that's when I got the cold feet and packed up and disappeared on him! And there's been numerous jokes about my name. I hyphenated it the first time and it's still that way, making my name 2 short of the alphabet. Good thing I don't have a middle name! I like the fact that seeing how this is a second marriage for both of us, that it says, "I had a good life before you came." We did, we have great children and I'd never want anything to diminish that fact. We had a good life and now we have each other.

Lyrics

Taking you home - (don henley/stan lynch/stuart brawley)

I had a good life
Before you came
I had my friends and my freedom
I had my name
Still there was sorrow and emptiness
稚il you made me glad
Oh, in this love I found strength I never knew I had

1st chorus:
And this love
Is like nothing I have ever known
Take my hand, love
I知 taking you home
Taking you home

There were days, lonely days
When the world, wouldn稚 throw me a crumb, no no
But I kept on believing
That this day would come

And this love
Is like nothing I have ever known, no no baby
Take my hand love
I知 taking you home
I知 taking you, home
Where we can be with the ones who really care
Home, where we can grow together
Keep you in, my heart forever

Instrumental (keyboard)

2nd chorus:
Oh and this love
Is like nothing I have ever known, oh no no baby
Take my hand love
I知 taking you home

3rd chorus:
Oh this love
Is like nothing I have ever known, no no baby
Take my hand
I知 taking you home
I知 taking you, home
Yes I am, mm, mm, mm, hey baby, hey baby
Taking you home

Short instrumental w/background vocals

I知 taking you home baby
I知 taking you home.
End

Get a life

I'm not a huge fan of Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, but where does Michael Douglas come off? Took him a few times to learn....

Referring to his marriage to Zeta Jones, he said: "You learn to respect something of value and nurture it."

Full article here

Maybe he should spend more time taking care of his own relationship than poking his nose into others. And what a slap in the face to his first wife and child, guess he didn't learn to respect them, or he doesn't consider them to be of value.

Another wedding update...the wedding song

Picking a song - who knew it would be so hard. The first time, it was easy, we we young, foolish, idealistic and both Billy Joel fans. Choosing You're My Home was simple. This time, not so easy. There's the whole back story to consider, with that in mind, I like George Strait's, The Fire I Can't Put Out. But, just now, I was listening to the radio in the car and there was Barry White's, You're My First, My Last, My Everything (I don't know if that's the real title) but how 80's would that be?! Yet, it's a fun song with nice lyrics....Then there's a Don Henley song that I can't remember the title to....

So - any suggestions? Wanna share with us what your wedding song was? C'mon, you know you do!!

****Update to the update - the Don Henley song is Taking You Home -
I like it

Wedding update....

I finally bought the invitations yesterday! It's been such a struggle deciding. As much as I'd like to have gotten something different and unique, etc etc, I just couldn't rationalize the cost when I need to send out over 150 invitations. Michaels was having a sale this week and I went with those. I chose a font on the computer and made up the wording and printed one out last night and everyone liked them!
And I got tulle and one of those archway things too.

Finally - the bridesmaids dresses are being ordered! Everyone has been measured and deposits are down! Whew! That was getting way to close.

Here's a picture of the bridesmaids' dress -

The color looks off in this picture, it's actually a little brighter, it's called claret.

I still have to contact a caterer and the woman for the cake, but the reception site is set, the church is set and oops...I have to go and E-mail the pastor and reschedule our meeting! ok...that's done!
