It's been a long time since I did my own Carnival post! We have 6 dogs, this week I'm featuring Kelly, Queen of the couch.

For long time readers, you may remember that Kelly is the pup who came up to us from North Carolina as one of our foster puppies. Somewhere in her past, Kelly had broken her leg and it was never repaired, she was probably never even taken to a vet prior to ending up in foster care in NC. Those nice people did take her to be x-rayed etc, but the vet apparenty felt that she was fine. Her leg turns out a bit and when she first came to us, she would experience pain when running and sometimes even when walking. We took her to the vet here who referred us to a specialist. The specialist felt that she had learned to live with it and that no surgery was needed. Basically, since she had broken it at an early age, she had learned to work around it and it was actually a good thing that the break had occurred at that age, rather that when she was older. He suggested glucosamine and possibly later in life arthritis type treatments. We had to be very careful with Kelly, it would cause her pain if you didn't pick her up the right way, or even prod her in the right way to move along (ie: go in her crate) and no one wanted to take on the responsibility of her care. As other dogs came and went, including her brother and sister, Kelly remained. Oscar, our abused little shy guy, who's brother had been adopted along with Moose's brother, was bonding with Kelly and they made a solid pair, each with their own handicaps. Kelly was a little reticent herself when people would come in the house and we eventually realized that she didn't want to leave and that she thought that the people coming to visit us were actually people who were there to adopt her, which they weren't, but she'd seen people come in the house and leave with pups and I guess she didn't want to be one of them. Her only bad trait, she likes to eat Mommy's crocheted blankets! Actually anything hand knit, including Mommy's beautiful hand knit sweater from Ireland. So, Kelly can't be a sleepy dog in anyone's bed if they are using Mommy's crocheted blankets! But she loves when the couch is opened into a bed.

Today - Kelly is a healthy little girl who can not only run and play with the best of them, but is able to launch herself over a 6 foot fence by rearing back on her hind legs! She runs, plays and tackles with the rest and only occasionally is forced to slow down a bit. She loves her brothers and sisters and is even trying to overcome her shyness around others. She's very vocal and a beautiful little girl!

Well, Herbie has been here and gone....at least this time it won't be as long as the last! We had a big party for Garrett's 22nd birthday on Saturday night
and then our small family party Tuesday on his actual birthday

and then Wednesday was Herbie's birthday!

What did we do for Herbie's birthday? Went on the ferry over to Delaware and bought our wedding bands :) (No picture yet)We went with white gold because the ring that I want to get is prettier in white gold. I have to hold off on the ring for now, but that's okay. Between paying for the wedding and building two houses, we kind of have our hands full.

I called the shop today and still no dresses, not even mine. Getting a little nervous about that. I don't know if it was a good idea or a bad one to put that ticker on my blog reminding me how many days I have until the wedding! *G*
*Almost* have all the inviations out, that's a big relief. Now I can focus on things like the table setting etc and drive myself nuts over that! *G*
And programs....what's the deal with that? Do I need them??

I went to the post office today to buy stamps for the wedding invitations. I had actually gone yesterday, but they said I had to have them weighed. Ok, no problem, better safe than postage due or returned, even though I was positive they wouldn't go over, which they didn't. I decided I didn't feel like driving all the way back to that post office and besides, they only had these package deals

for those people whose invitations would go over the amount (.63 cent stamp with a .39 cent stamp). They weren't even sure if they'd have the .39's in. I called a closer post office and they had the .39-ers, but when I got there, I saw these - and feel in love! The traditional wedding stamps were a tad stuffy for me anyway and I'm sure those of you that know me, will know why this are soooo much more me!
OMG! IT's May 1st....two more months....I was supposed to mail the invitations out today, but we just got back from shopping in Delaware, where I did purchase the labels sans tax. Now I have to decide whether or not I should take tonight off to get these done! I probably should....2 MONTHS!! OMG. Yes, I guess this is crunch time. I haven't even seen my dress yet, they told me "it should be in soon." SOON?! How 'bout now! I still don't have a price form the caterer, but God bless her, she's a nice, calm woman who seems like she is trying really hard to make this reasonable. 2 months, wow.
